AR: Technology that Provides More Than the Reality

AR (Augmented Reality), which is increasingly used all over the world, brings digital world to our feet by experiencing interactive and fun experiences in every field of our life.

At the forefront of the new generation of technologies, AR technology faces intense interest of both information and the manufacturing world. What exactly is the technology that many companies are currently investing in, how and why it is used? You can find the answers to these questions in our article.

AR; as you can see from the definition, is one step above the reality. That is, it is created by adding virtual images to the objects we actually see. Well, what kind of addition we are talking about it? As an example, let’s say you saw a movie poster on the way, you hold your mobile device towards the billboard, and you can watch the movie’s trailer. Or you want to buy a furniture, you can get a chance to see how the furniture will stay at home in a 3D and interactive way by holding the product in the catalogue on your mobile phone or using your AR eyewear.

This system that changes our perception of reality brings our everyday experiences to a completely different dimension. This technology, which can be experienced with mobile phones such as AR glasses, smart phones or tablets, has become to have a say in many sectors.

AR on the rise

First, the definition of Augmented Reality, which emerged in the 1990s, was used primarily for built-in indicators used to combine electrical wiring harnesses. In the last 10 years, AR glasses such as Google Glass, CastAR, Moverio BT-200, Meta and Vuzix are among the pioneering products in the AR field, which has risen like other digital trends. Companies such as Bilippar and Arox BiliÅŸim are also mentioning themselves with the significant Augmented Reality studies in our country. At the same time, besides these glasses, which are mentioned as important developments in the field of wearable technology, which is another technology segment, applications are also important for Augmented Reality applications. These applications, developed in a special 3D program, combine animation and content knowledge to provide an interactive presentation to the user.

The game and video world, one of the sectors most affected by technology, of course benefited from AR’s great opportunities. Among these games where VR and AR glasses are frequently used, Pokemon GO has become an experience that surrounds the world.

Is your reality augmented or virtual?

The Augmented Reality is almost integrated into the technology world along with Virtual Reality (VR); and these two technologies are often confused. Although VR and AR are similar technologies using similar techniques, they have quite basic differences. VR takes users to a virtual world while Augmented Reality does virtual joints with real images. According to this, you can find yourself fighting with your enemies in a video game with your VR glasses.

In the car, Officially, On the Road … A Life Digitalized with AR

Like all technologies, Augmented Reality facilitates life and offers us many possibilities. The usage areas of this technology which is under development are unlimited. This technology, which can be used in many different areas for different purposes; is now most commonly used in sales and advertising-focused work.

Companies chooses this virtual interactive experience to deliver products more effectively to consumers. In this sense, this technology; which emphasizes companies in a serious way; now also gives opportunities to things that cannot be done before. So the experience of shopping is changing completely with Augmented Reality; which is not only a product but also a convenience to the user. According to this; a customer who wants to buy a vase; can see how the vase will stand on the table in the house; with this technology and then decide to buy it. Or someone who drives can see information about the road and navigate the same way on the AR screen.
